Their colors can change from translucent at birth to reddish-brown to a darker hue after feeding on blood. Bedbugs are known for their distinctive horizontal stripes on their abdomen.
Bedbug eggs are tiny barrel-shaped, pearl-colored specks, no bigger than the head of a pin and an eye-like spot may develop after a few days.
Additionally, bedbug bites often appear as small, red, itchy welts on the skin.

Bedbugs have a lifespan of about six to twelve months.
They reproduce swiftly, with a female capable of laying up to five eggs daily, or up to 1,800 eggs during her lifetime.

It takes bedbugs around 35 days for them to mature and start breeding.
Bedbugs inbreed, meaning they will breed with siblings, parents, or other readily available relatives.
